Holiday Hangover Cures
Holiday Hangover Cures
We work hard all year and when we go on holiday it’s time to relax. We like to let our hair down, or in my case cover the baldness creeping in, have a few drinks by the pool, a glass of wine with dinner then venture out for the afternoon.
A few drinks here, a few drinks there, a beer with tea and then get ready for the night time activities. Before you know it your covered in stickers from all the bars you popped in for ‘just one’ and already you know it’s gonna be ugly when you wake up.
Water is vital in detoxing your body when you are looking for a holiday hangover cure. It is the most obvious but if you are like myself who find it hard to resist a shot with a beer, especially if it’s like a Euro extra I already know i’m doomed. Drink water before you go to bed, have a bottle waiting at the side of your bed so you do not forget. Whilst out drinking make a note to have water every few drinks, I know if you are in a group it’s not the cool thing to do and you may get a bit of stick but the next day when you are walking around the market enjoying your time on holiday those who frowned on you are sucking it up in bed!
Eat pizza, sausage or anything greasy before you go out. Your intestines are going to be soaked in alcohol and grease is a great way to stop the sambuca soaking in your body prolonging this traumatic event. Olive oil is recommended before you start drinking, just a tablespoon mind not the bottle!
Not the most pleasant experience when you feel like you have just eaten Ghandi’s flip flop but even a few rounds of toast will make all the difference. Your body will be dehydrated and you need to start replacing those calories and toast is a great way of doing both.
Sometimes it’s just a losing battle fighting a hangover. If after a few hours you still feel like you have just ran a mile in the desert and are totally destroyed grab the pillow, think happy thoughts and try and sleep it off. Keep topping up on the water and nature will take it’s course and before you know it you will be doing it all over again!
I can’t advise on taking tablets as i’m not a doctor but must stress that if you are buying any over the counter medication on your holiday make sure you know 100% what it is. The last thing you want is a mix up in communication and end up with a box of laxatives.
All jokes aside, if you do not feel right for any reason contact your hotel reception and get checked up by a doctor, drink within reason, it is cheaper for alcohol abroad and is warmer so we do tend to drink more than usual, myself included, enjoy your holiday and have fun!
